Areas of Expertise
ADVOCACY , SPEAKING, & MENTORSHIP

Law, Policy, & Community Engagement
Before being drawn to study law & policy, my work revolved around education & community engagement. Working with students was how I first learned to appreciate the importance of actively supporting and engaging with the community. Because laws & policies are driven by broad social beliefs, our work must always begin at the community level.
Speaking, Facilitation, & Consulting
Everyone in the room is both a teacher and a learner. Therefore, I do not approach speaking engagements or facilitation/consulting opportunities as the expert in the room. Rather, I simply aim to repackage what I have learned and reflected upon over the years and share it with others.

Mentorship & Coaching
I am huge proponent of mentorship due to the fact that I did not have enough mentors growing up. Since all social advancement is built upon the sharing of resources, experiences and information, hoarding knowledge can only serve to imperil our growth as individuals, organizations and communities at large. This is why I actively try to do my part in supporting the next generation of leaders, agitators and advocates.

My Approach
In order to achieve equity, fairness and justice, our proposed solutions must be:
-
Race-conscious, not neutral
-
Rooted in historical analysis, not viewed as isolated occurrences
-
Revolutionary, not only reformist
-
Radically holistic and customized, not myopic and generic
-
Relentless and persistent, not apathetic and sporadic
-
Relational and inclusive, not individualistic and insular
-
Reflective and intentional, not passive

They must also engage society at multiple levels:
-
Individual
-
Interpersonal & Organizational
-
Structural & Systemic
